A lighthouse is a tower with a light that helps boats navigate. So, this is a real lighthouse.

It has an observation deck at the top with beautiful views.
The lighthouse was built of metal and plywood with six sides, then finished in stucco. It is painted with red and white stripes. The light flashes every 25 seconds.

You have to pay to enter Sea Pines, but not much. There is no fee to go into the gift shop at the bottom of the lighthouse, but there is a small charge to climb to the observation platform. Each landing has exhibits about the area and there are great views from the top. It was well worth it.
